The British manufacturer ASD Lighting PLC has since 1982 designed, developed, and manufactured high quality lighting products. A new and advanced sealing process is now installed at the factory in Rotherham, UK. ASD Lighting has chosen a complete solution with high-precision ContiFoam foam dosing technology and surface treatment with Tantec’s equipment, which in addition to high production quality ensures reduced costs and faster delivery times and has dramatically reduced ASD Lighting’s carbon footprint by removing transport to and from sub-contract gasketing solution providers.
One of ASD’s most important principles and pro-mise is” delivery one week after ordering”. This, combined with greater demand from custom ers, led to changes in internal work processes and a significant investment in production. The large investment includes Tantec’s PlasmaTEC-X, which provides surface treatment of ASD Lighting’s pro-ducts and thus ensures optimal component prepa-ration.
Why is plasma treatment so important?
Plasma treatment provides an economical solution for the cleaning and activation of
component surfaces before foam gasketing. Component preparation is an important step prior to bonding processes. Plasma surface treatment improves wettability and perfects adhesion of foam.
What is PlasmaTEC-X
Tantec’s PlasmaTEC-X Atmospheric Plasma treatment system is built around the concept of a high voltage DC Plasma discharge in atmospheric air. The versatility of this unit allows for use in fully integrated robotic cells, as a standalone unit, or on most any production line.
